October Stitch Fix Review

I’ve been staring at a blank screen for almost an hour and a half trying to think of a clever opening line for this post, but between a clingy dog, laundry, and my last dose of Sudafed wearing off, I’m going to go ahead and jump right in.

oct01

This month I asked Kaylee for some colored jeans or corduroys to pair with all the black/gray/white tops in my wardrobe for fall, and mentioned some tops I had recently pinned on my Pinterest board that I was also interested in. There weren’t any pants in my fix, which Kaylee explained in her stylist note:

So I didn’t send any colored jeans because the only ones we carry are the “jeggings” ones you hate.

Good call. Here’s what I got.

Bay to Baubles Anya Stone Pendant

Gold, $34.00

oct02

Pros: I’ve been doing a better job styling jewelry lately, so this would be a nice addition to my collection since I don’t have much gold.

Cons: It’s a little clunky and not exactly my style.

oct03

Verdict: I figured I would keep this if the other items all worked out and it would apply to the discount.

RD Style Tawna Pullover Sweater

Black, $78.00

oct04

Pros: I wasn’t sure how this would fit, but it’s really comfortable, has long enough sleeves, and will be good for layering this winter.

Cons: I probably don’t need more black in my wardrobe, but…

oct05

Verdict: Kept. There’s no such thing as too many sweaters when you live in Minnesota.

Market & Spruce Jann Faux Leather Patch Cardigan

Olive, $78.00

oct06

Pros: Olive, leather trim, long, warm, pockets, awesome…what’s not to like?

Cons: See above.

oct07

Verdict: Kept. I love this, and already wore it to work.

Edyson Maisha Ponte and Faux Leather Jacket

Wine, $88.00

oct08

Pros: I was surprised how much I liked this. I liked the color and the fit and the leather/mixed media concept, but I was skeptical of the suede and the whole drapey flap things in lieu of a zipper or buttons or any kind of closure. Turns out they actually work pretty well.

Cons: I mean, there’s still like a 50% chance the drapey flap things will annoy me when I wear it.

oct09

Verdict: Kept. Come on guys, it’s a leather jacket.

Mystree Rigley Knit Top

Gray, $58.00

oct10

To be honest, I’m pretty confused by this shirt, enough to abandon the normal Pro-Con format. The material is really soft, but incredibly flimsy. It’s comfortable, but huge on me. I like stripes, but this is a lot. I like it…but I don’t. I think? I’m going to let my Second Opinions sound off here:

“It’s really cool, but I’m not sure about the bottom pattern. Like if it was solid on the bottom it might be better.” – Marie

“I’m iffy on the top…maybe send a note to your stylist so that she doesn’t think you want every striped outfit?” – Emily

“The striped top should be burned.” – Mom

oct11

Verdict: It’s big enough on me that I probably would never end up wearing it. However, it made way more financial sense to keep it for the discount since when I did the math, it was actually cheaper to keep all five items than just the three I really wanted. I’ve put it up for sale in the Stitch Fix Buy/Sell/Trade Facebook group, let me know if you’re interested.

This was actually a pretty successful fix. I kept everything, and am pretty excited about everything (including selling the striped shirt…I think). Kaylee is continuing to do a great job!

Though Guinness was unimpressed.
